Commercial Epoxy — Frequently Asked Questions
How long does commercial epoxy flooring take to install and cure?
Most commercial epoxy installations are completed in 1–3 days depending on square footage and system type. We phase installs by zone so your operation can continue. With polyaspartic top coats, cured-to-traffic time is 4–6 hours per coat — most businesses reopen the next morning.
Is epoxy flooring safe for food-service and restaurant environments?
Yes. Our urethane cement and specialty epoxy systems are CFIA-approved and FDA-compliant for food-contact environments. They are non-porous, seamless (no grout lines), and resistant to hot wash-down cycles. We install integral coved bases for full sanitation compliance.
What epoxy thickness is required for heavy forklift traffic?
For forklift traffic, we recommend a minimum 3mm total system thickness — typically a self-leveling epoxy base at 2mm and a polyaspartic or urethane top coat at 1mm. For very high-cycle forklift lanes, a broadcast quartz intermediate layer adds abrasion resistance. We spec each system based on your traffic load.
