How is metallic epoxy flooring installed — can you walk me through the process?
Day 1: The slab is diamond-ground to expose raw concrete. Cracks and divots are filled. Day 2: A prime coat seals the slab. The metallic pigment is hand-troweled into a clear epoxy base coat — this is where the marbling effect is created. A self-leveling clear layer locks the design. Finally, a polyaspartic top coat provides UV stability and durability. The result is a one-of-a-kind floor — no two metallic installs look the same.
Does metallic epoxy flooring show scratches or footprints over time?
With a polyaspartic top coat, metallic epoxy is scratch-resistant and minor marks buff out. High-gloss finishes do show footprints more than satin finishes — we discuss sheen level during the quote and can demonstrate samples. For garage applications with vehicle traffic, we add a broadcast flake mid-layer for extra abrasion resistance.
Can metallic epoxy be applied in a garage exposed to tire traffic and oil?
Yes. Our garage metallic systems include a chemical-resistant polyaspartic top coat rated for hot-tire pickup, oil, fuel, and road salt. The metallic design layer is fully encapsulated and protected. We install metallic epoxy in residential and luxury vehicle garages regularly.
